Rising talent Betty Gabriel had one of the most potent scenes in the smash horror flick Get Out. Her lost soul in the midst of White people caused the movie to go from slightly comedic to a devastating narrative on Black silence. Don’t tell me you didn’t get emotional when that one tear drop left her eye! Give this woman an Oscar!

I, Tonya for Best Picture

With movies like Call Me By Your Name and Lady Bird getting nominated for Best Picture, it seems the Academy favored the more subtle dramas this year. I, Tonya is not that type of movie.

Hailed as the Goodfellas of figure skating, this flick hits you in the gut with the story of controversial figure skater Tonya Harding. Though Margot Robbie and Allison Janney received well-deserved recognition for their roles in the movie, a Best Picture nod would have been the icing on the cake!
