The Biggest Lesson Usher's Failed Marriage Taught Him

R&B veteran Usher has had to learn plenty of hard lessons throughout his career, but the thing that taught him the biggest life lesson was his failed marriage to Tameka Raymond.

Featured in the September issue of O Magazine, the “Good Kisser” crooner shared how his troubled union to the former fashion stylist turned reality star showed him he doesn’t know everything. “‘Most people probably think I regret [‘getting married at 28’] because I ended up getting divorced, but it helped me learn that sometimes I think I know more than I actually do.”

Usher married Tameka Raymond in 2007 and together they had two sons before divorcing in 2009. The superstar received backlash for his marriage to Foster that manifested in lagging sales of his 2009 album “Here I Stand.” Usher famously had a falling out with his mother/manager Jonetta Patton over his relationship with Foster.
