Back in the day, it was imperative you memorized a phone number. Now, with all these “smart phones” committing a number to memory is more old school than owning a VCR. But before phone books, some of the cool kids starting putting numbers in songs. Take a look at some of music’s famous phone numbers

1) Tommy Tutone -”867-5309/Jenny”

Lyrics: Eight six seven five three ohhh nineeeeee/eight six seven five three ohhh nineeee

Word on the street, lead singer Tommy Tutone said the number belonged to a girl he knew and decided to write it on a wall of a motel he and the band were staying at. The infectious single took the No. 1 spot on The Billboard Top Tracks in 1982, and became the theme song for all sluts. Rock On!

2) Alicia Keys – “Diary”

Lyrics: Ohh, baby if there’s anything that you fear./Call four eight nine forty-six oh eight and I’ll be here.

On “The Diary of Alicia Keys,” Keys released Diary, the single from her second album. In the song, Keys tells her beau that if he ever needs to confide in her, all he has to do is call 489-4608, which was Key’s old New York number.

3) Destiny’s Child feat. NEXT – “If You Leave”

Lyrics: I called 612 555 2422 to find you/I pack my bags gassed up the jag/told my dad you the finest girl I never had

“The Writings On The Wall” was filled with bangers but “If You Leave” with male R&B group NEXT “If You Leave” stood out.  Both Bey and RL sang about their significant others for one another.

4) Mike Jones – “Back Then”
